Oxford Cavaliers are one of five rugby league clubs
in Oxford but are the only club not affiliated with
one of the universities. The club's name and colours
honour the city's civil war heritage. The club crest
is the red and blue royal standard that flew over
Oxford when King Charles I held his court in Christchurch
College.
The club currently has an open age side that play
their rugby in the Co-operative Rugby League Conference
London and South Division. The newly formed committee
are currently talking of an academy side being set
up at the club to try and give younger lads in Oxford
another opportunity outside of school.
