Old Richians RFC was founded in 1950 and is the old boys club of Sir Thomas Rich's Grammar School, Gloucester.
Situated in such a rugby hotbed of Gloucestershire, Old Richians has a large and growing senior set up, every weekend sees at least three Old Richians sides take to the field.
The 1st XV compete in the Gloucester Premier League as well as regional and local knock out competitions. Since joining the League system in 1982, after first declining to enter Old Richians have gained seven promotions.
Back in the early days for many years the club was without a clubhouse and was run out of local pubs. In the late 1970's a group of members, including the late Gerry Stone, banded together and bought a piece of land adjacent to the school. The Clubhouse was then built and opened in December 1982. The proximity to the school allowed the club to use the school pitches, but several years ago, through the Council the club now have acquired their own pitches.
